Political Agenda Success — Give in or not?

Political Agenda Success — Give in or not?

So many pundits continue to argue that giving into the “other side” is the best way to get things done in Washington, yet those arguments mostly come from those not in the majority.

What would happen if presidents started using more vetoes? Instead of going more for compromise and having to take on things that don’t go with one’s beliefs or ideals, what if the president used the veto more until the Senate and House got along enough to override the veto (U.S. Constitution sec. 7).

Potential results:

  • One outcome is that it could force Congress to work more together and stop playing games with the fake power each holds without 2/3rds majority.
  • If they don’t Congress would be deadlocked and it could force more true majorities 2/3rds+ during elections.

Why are we still playing around with continuing resolutions and not forcing Congress to agree to a balanced budget… among other things?
